State Flora's Belair Nursery celebrated its 120th birthday on October 21st and 22nd, 2006 with a huge weekend of family fun and entertainment.
Saturday opened with Jon Lamb and Ashley Walsh from ABC radio hosting their talkback gardening show from the Belair Nursery with special guest State Flora's own Linda Niemann.

Other highlights for the weekend included face painting and a bouncy castle for the children, State Flora show bags, stalls including community groups, native wildlife, food, wine, book signing and of course South Australia's largest range of Australian native plants.
A chamber quartet and a jazz band entertained over 3,000 visitors during the two days. The Big Top marquee had expert guest speakers on Australian plants and the bush poets waxed lyrically.

State Flora's new plant catalogue entitled 120 years and still growing was officially launched by Rob Freeman the Chief Executive of Department of Water, Land & Biodiversity Conservation. The Hon. Russel Wortley MLC officiated with a birthday speech on the history of State Flora and its relevance today in growing low water use Australian plants.
A highlight leading up to the weekend was the involvement of 700 Primary Schools throughout SA in a flora and fauna colouring in contest. At the official ceremony certificates were presented to 30 primary school students on behalf of the winning schools who received State Flora plant vouchers.
